The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) operates over 600 urban transit buses, 80 smaller fixed route transit buses, and over 250 paratransit buses. The OCTA currently operates 232 of its urban transit buses on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and is in the process of purchasing 377 more that operate on compressed natural gas (CNG). The OCTA has been operating two LNG fueling facilities since delivery of its 232 LNG buses, starting in August of 2000. The OCTA currently has one new CNG fueling facility, with two more beginning construction. A total of three CNG fueling facilities will be in use by the end of 2008.
