That is why our environmental commitment extends beyond compliance; it requires that we raise the bar for ourselves and that we work with others to do the same.Clean Air Transportation Description: PG&E’s Clean Air Transportation (CAT) group is part of the utility’s commitment to reduce our own environmental footprint and improve air quality in the communities we serve. Its mission is to maintain and grow PG&E’s leadership in developing a self-sustaining Low Emission Vehicle market for our customers.

PG&E currently runs the nation’s largest utility natural gas fleet - more than 1,300 natural gas vehicles. CAT also works with over 200 commercial and private fleet operators, directly and materially improving air quality in northern and central California communities. Since 1995, CAT has:

  • Displaced over 3.4 million gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel
  • Prevented over 6,000 tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere; and
  • Assist PG&E customers to qualify for over $26.9 million in air district, state, and federal grants for natural gas vehicles, heavy-duty natural gas engines, and new and upgraded compressed natural gas fueling stations.
