Research Begins on Implementing LNG Hydraulic Hybrid Trash Trucks
September 7, 2007 - Considering the addition of hydraulic hybrid drives to liquefied natural gas (LNG) refuse trucks, the City of Los Angeles and Bosch Rexroth contracted New West Technologies to begin gathering pertinent data that would assist their decision-making. The research will include vehicle speed profiles and engine operating maps of LNG refuse trucks with Rexroth’s hydrostatic regenerative brake. Two LNG American LaFrance Condor vehicles will be used during this test phase.
